Thermo Fisher Scientific Senior Accounting Manager, Instrument Services in Waltham, Massachusetts
Instrument Services (IS) Sr. Manager, Accounting will provide support for the accounting and controls within the business, along with partnering with the leadership teams within Instrument and Enterprise Services (IES) to deliver financial plan and objectives positioning the business for growth. This role will partner closely with IES Finance and the broader Analytical Instruments Group (AIG) Finance teams, Global Business Shared Services (GBS), and Corporate Finance teams to drive the enhance controls, optimize processes, and ultimately transition from reactive to proactive risk management.
Provide operational accounting support and guidance for the post sale instrument services to drive consistent application of system and process for warranty, contract services and other assumed obligations at all global service sites.
Provide leadership and support to drive requirements and facilitate ERP configuration and software development to support global service accounting requirements for reporting and analysis.
Lead key cross functional initiatives across the IES organization to drive process improvements, improve controls and provide better visibility to financial results
Support the financial close process working collectively with the business, controllership and GBS teams in support of Corporate Guidelines for the submission of monthly financials.
Collaborate with Corporate technical accounting teams to perform technical accounting research on complex issues to ensure proper accounting treatment.
Collaborate closely with Corporate GBS team to develop and optimize regional/country shared service strategy to drive operational and platform efficiency.
Provide support for controllership on the creation of data infrastructure and reporting tools that transform the month-end close process, balance sheet reconciliation/analysis, risk analysis and management reviews in support of transformation activities.
8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience in large complex, multinational organization.
BA/BS major in accounting, finance, business or technical field preferred.
Working knowledge of ERP systems and Accounting Transactions

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail; must be able to elevate perspective at the appropriate time.
Experience working in a diverse global financial month-end close in an accurate and timely manner while maintaining a strong control environment
Demonstrated ability to operate independently with broad guidance against a framework of defined business objectives in a matrix environment.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP with demonstrated advanced accounting and technical skills including experience with complex revenue arrangements in a manufacturing environment
Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to confidently present complex information to all levels of the organization are required.
Ability to thrive in a large, fast-pace, matrixed, international organization and proven history of leading cross functional/country teams to build organizational relationships with customers, peers and operating partners across functions & geographies.
Prior experience and expertise in working with financial software such as SAP, Hyperion Financial Management and Hyperion Enterprise
Ability to drive continuous improvement with a successful track record of optimizing processes with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to set appropriate priorities with multiple projects and execute them successfully
