Sr. Director Business Operations is part of Life Sciences Business Functions which provide critical functional support to divisions within the Life Sciences and Laboratory Products Group (LSLPG) BID, LCD and LPD in addition to the Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing (CSD) and Genetic Sciences (GSD) divisions and the BioProduction Group (BPG). The divisions are focused on setting the standards for serving science by providing customers with an innovative and broad life sciences portfolio.
The Business Operations function is a team of Group level resources with demonstrated capabilities driving project execution, business intelligence, new product life cycle management and team collaboration across divisions, functions & business units. As the Sr. Director of Business Operations, you will be responsible for projects from inception to post-launch surveillance, drive Global Operations Business Intelligence roadmap and support product life cycle processes
Lead a distributed team of project managers establishing and promoting industry-recognized, best-in-class project management standards.
Facilitate creation and implementation of a portfolio roadmap aligned with Life Science and Divisional strategy.
Provide project management subject matter expertise and support for large and/or sophisticated programs.
Direct assignment of Project Management resources, guide in the development of project teams with input from the functional managers. Allocate resources appropriately based on project complexity, strategic importance, team experience and development opportunities.
Ensure information concerning project status (i.e. schedules, deliverables, costs, risks, and issues) passes to and from key stakeholders.
Provide accountability for the evaluation and approval process for change requests (i.e. scope, schedule, and cost).
Identify resource bottlenecks that may be negatively impacting programs and work with extended leadership team to address shorter and longer term needs. Ensure that an effective risk escalation process is established and that barriers to effective project execution are identified and addressed.
Drive the selection and implementation of IT Tools to support program / project management processes.
Develop organizational project management capabilities through training, coaching, and group and individual meetings/discussions.
Communicate standards of project management roles and responsibilities, relative to grade level. Provide feedback & coaching on performance, as well as creation of personal development plans to improve skills set.
Sit on LSG Operations leadership team and contributes to divisional monthly business reviews (MBR)
Product Data Management
Provide thought leadership in organizational structure and hierarchy, with insight to team skill set and development opportunities
Support and guide strategic alignment of product lifecycle management processes with customer experience initiatives.
Support Product Lifecycle Management processes related to creating, changing and discontinuing products within LSG
Business Intelligence (BI)
Drive strategy and execution of Global Operations BI roadmap, including cross functional integration projects
Establish cross functional Operations KPIs and monitor progress monthly
Lead regular review process with Functional and Divisional leadership teams, drive prioritization and reports on status
Guide Operational Key Performance Indicators aligned to insights from the Customer Allegiance Scores and support any improvements in the customer experience.
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business, engineering, or other related field.
10+ years of experience in program/project management and/or cross functional NPI leadership; strong preference for experience in modern project portfolio management tools.
End to end (Plan, Source, Make, Deliver) Supply Chain experience
PMI or PMP certification preferred
Professional in collaborating, building relationships and influence at all levels across the organization
Ability to quickly establish credibility across organization/engage others to ensure the most effective and efficient logistics solutions for the varied business units
Proven experience directly managing teams
Experience in large integrations, M&As that have direct Operations implications.
Ability to transform current business functions into streamlined, sustainable, and efficient processes
Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 tools (Power BI,Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, and SharePoint) required.
Ability to thrive in a high speed, high pressure environment.
Ability to travel an average of 10% annually.
