Thermo Fisher Scientific Sr. BI Analyst - Financial Intelligence in Waltham, Massachusetts

Reporting into the Finance Life Sciences organization as a Center of Excellence, the Sr. BI Analyst - Financial Intelligence will be working closely across the entire matrix of divisions and functions. You will be responsible for design, development and maintenance of data solutions for financial reporting and insights - with customers across levels and technical backgrounds - all in service to drive scalable and insightful reporting solutions that drive overall efficiency, productivity, and revenue. The ideal candidate will have strong business / financial acumen and communication skills, combined with experience in data analytics and reporting tools, and excellent project management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with internal customers to identify best practices and pain points in their workflow - translating into scalable analytical and reporting solutions for use by 500+ finance employees and business customers

  • Leverage reporting tools (primarily Power Bi) to develop and maintain central financial reporting dashboards utilized for revenue and cost drivers

  • Lead a reporting solution from ideation to data architecture and collection to development, visualization and end user training

  • Identify and present predictive drivers/leading indicators, trends, outliers, and patterns that uncover new insights to help guide enterprise-wide business insights

  • Provide expertise across data warehouse architecture and infrastructure maintenance that supports an evolving set of products with data infrastructure engineering teams

  • Build data governance with scalable processes, refresh scheduling, security, and monitoring of report quality

  • Enhance the analytics community with interaction and feedback mechanisms alongside training to enhance digital talent skills

  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field

  • 3+ years' experience in a reporting / data analyst role with progressive responsibilities and scope

  • Expertise in data reporting tools (Power Bi preferred), programming languages (SQL, DAX, VBA, Python), and cloud stack technologies (AWS, Redshift, Azure AAS)

  • Experience in financial function preferred to best understand the data and customer base

  • Interpersonal skills: exceptional verbal/written communication

  • Proven track record of achieving desired results without direct report authority

  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology a plus

  • Minimal travel required
