Position Summary:

Digital transformation efforts are complex, strategically important initiatives requiring collaboration and coordination across multiple teams, businesses, and functions. The objective of these efforts is to achieve a superior customer experience and value proposition for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s customers and operational effectiveness within the organization. The Sr Manager, Program Management the Digital Transformation Office’s (DTO) in shaping and accelerating the momentum of digital transformation with the key focus areas of internal efficiency and our offerings to customers. This role will also work very closely with the key stakeholders and senior company leadership to develop and share the comprehensive digital asset portfolio view.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create opportunities for active sharing of digital transformation efforts planned and accomplished, best practices, and other relevant information across the organization. Facilitate the creation of relevant working groups and workstreams stemming from this and enable those working groups and workstreams to accomplish their objectives.

  • Draft a strategic plan for the digital asset portfolio and the digital asset catalog. Work with the Director, Digital Transformation, on the execution plan for creating the portfolio and catalog, including putting together an inaugural digital asset portfolio review

  • Conduct the information gathering via various mechanisms across and at multiple levels of the organization to build a comprehensive view of our digital assets

  • Benchmark and advise on how other companies and industries measure their R&D investment and return on that investment into software and digital components as well as the product vitality in these spaces.

  • Benchmark and advise on how not-born-digital companies that are moving into the digital space conceptualize and prioritize their portfolio of digital components and products.

Other

  • Highly desirable to have any or all of the following: background in scientific or lab research or work; innovation and design thinking; software product management and software development lifecycle, especially for the life sciences industry; vendor/technology evaluation and management

  • Comfortable with learning new information management systems and other software tools necessary to complete the responsibilities

Qualifications

  • We expect that an optimal candidate would have either or both of the following: a graduate degree like an MBA or other administrative degree or at least 2+ years of analytical work (e.g., finance) and 8+ years of work experience in a related field (software or digital, science, and/or software for science)
