Tax Accountant II - Fiduciary Tax

Job Description:

Tax Accountant position that provides technical fiduciary tax expertise to client teams and is focused on differentiating client service and expanding client relationships. Insures all tax responsibilities required of assigned accounts are fulfilled, achieving client focused service standards and complying with bank standards and policies, and federal and state tax laws. Prepares and/or reviews the more complex trust and handles tax accounting and reporting tasks in support of fiduciary tax return preparation. Typically responsible for the more complex fiduciary tax matters. Delivers accurate and timely client tax information. Tax administration responsibilities required of assigned accounts include tax code research, GST review, tax return preparation and trust accounting and tax systems maintenance; account status change tax review and action; ongoing static (account and beneficiary) and transaction data review and management; 65 day election coordination; tax refund processing; tax authority notice research and response. Meeting all client service and compliance deadlines. Providing tax expertise to address client needs. Proactively identifies opportunities to contact Trust Officers regarding tax matters in support of enhancing client service and expanding relationships. Develops subject matter expertise in a specific area of tax. For new accounts – reviews the tax document and determines taxability and tax reporting responsibilities, and trust accounting and tax systems coding. For closing accounts - determines tax reserves. Quarterly estimated trust tax payment review and validation. Maintains current and increases knowledge of subject matter: Fiduciary federal and state tax laws, regulatory and compliance requirements, and tax planning techniques. Takes personal responsibility for career development.

Qualifications/Desired Skills : 3 – 5 years experience in a tax services environment; Fiduciary and/or estate tax experience; Proficient in conducting tax code research to resolve complex tax issues; Able to work in a multi-task environment, managing multiple priorities while delivering results; Proficient in and/or obtains training regarding current systems, software programs and tools used by Fiduciary Tax; Strong working knowledge of fiduciary tax return preparation and processing in a high volume environment; Exercises sound judgment in decision-making, taking into consideration managing risk and compliance with internal policies and procedures; Demonstrated oral, written and presentation communication skills; BA/BS with a major in accounting or finance or equivalent experience; CPA, LLM and or Masters in Taxation - desired.
