If you are someone who’s looking to bring innovation, contribute ideas and play a part in renewing the global procurement organization we want to hear from you! ## Job Purpose Accountable for establishment and execution of a clear and compelling end-to-end strategy including vendor and contract management for Indirects (encompassing full view of subcategories), ensuring delivery of value to the business in terms of financial benefit, supply chain resilience and sustainability through National Grid’s supply chains within region. Responsible for continuously driving improved category strategies; by working collaboratively with key Procurement personnel and wider business entities to leverage business and market insight; and by coaching the team through support and challenge to drive a change in performance culture. ## Key Accountabilities + Accountable for the development of an end-to-end strategy and implementation plan for specific category group with region (including a full view on subcategories), ensuring: - Maximum value is being driven from the category within region with regards to supplier spend, volume leverage, quality, forecasting efficiency, and innovation including ownership and execution of vendor and contract management activity. - Ways to unlock the full value potential within the procured spend base within the category are identified, implemented and, as applicable, learnings are shared across other categories. - A systematic approach to managing spend for the category within region is adopted and executed seamlessly across the extended team – leveraging areas of common spend. + Own the delivery of a portfolio of strategic sourcing events within allocated category area, working with Category Managers (Band D) and stakeholders to plan and prioritise workload and challenge demand, identifying best sourcing strategies and delivering events from market engagement through to award. + Undertake research and analysis to profile the characteristics of allocated category within region – including external analysis of supply markets and supplier trends – to inform the category management planning process, ensuring opportunities to drive value are leveraged and that risks (i.e., around supply shortage, etc.,) are identified and mitigated. + Work with lines of business, and colleagues across the Procurement function to develop future requirements, often taking a seat at the leadership team table to influence and contribute to business strategy. ## + Understand the future requirements of the business and ensure this is factored into the category forward planning to deliver maximum supplier spend efficiencies through volume leverage, forecast buying, supplier innovation, exploitation of non-traditional markets and optioneering. + Responsible for ensuring fit for purpose and competitive contract management within category team to scope and develop robust fit-for-purpose and value-adding contractual agreements. + Work with the defined end-to-end principles and methodologies for category management, ensuring (as appropriate) the optimum levels of value through their categories. + Lead a highly motivated, innovative and value-focused team, developing talent and a performance management culture that drives value through employee engagement which successfully meets or exceeds all strategic objectives for the area. ## Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required + Will Manage up to 30 people ## Qualifications + Previous experience of understanding, identifying and executing multiple opportunities across a range of Categories to deliver value. + Experience of broad, supply chain management in complex, enterprise environments. + Ability to communicate dynamically at all levels within National Grid and externally to senior leaders within supplier organizations (including C level executives). + Ability to mentor category management, relationship management and sourcing to an expert level within their teams. + Track record of driving value beyond straightforward procurement savings in areas of value engineering, usage of lean techniques to identify and eliminate waste and identify income opportunities in the extended value chain. + Good understanding of broader business objectives and the implications of strategic planning and actions within the category on the regional business. + Expert influencing and negotiation skills to drive optimum value through the award of commercially sound contracts. + Relationship management experience, driving commercial value and performance through major contracts. + Degree level/relevant professional qualification such as CIPS or equivalent experience. ## More Information National Grid is an equal opportunity employer that values a broad diversity of talent, knowledge, experience and expertise.
