As a Technical Product Manager for a water heating and boiler portfolio, your role involves overseeing the development, enhancement, and management of products within this specific domain. Success in this position will require natural curiosity, a knack for technology, and a willingness to push for excellence. Your personality is goal orientated, you take initiative, and you drive topics forward. Results include, but are not limited to, market and competitor analysis, product specification, and portfolio management. You will identify new opportunities and define new product concepts and ranges, fully support life cycle product management, and through the Time-To-Market product development process introduce new products to the market. In addition, this role supports processes on all current and future new products for the company in North America, and collaborates with internal and external departments both in North America and at the company’s global sites, including external suppliers.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Product Development and Life Cycle Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including suppliers, engineers, designers, and marketers to develop new products or enhance existing ones in the water heating and boiler category.
Market Research : Conduct market analysis to identify trends, competitors, regulatory policies, and customer needs within the North American water heating and boiler industry including customer and tradeshow visits. Utilize this data to make informed product decisions.
Requirement Gathering : Engage with customers, installers, and other internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable product features and specifications.
Documentation: Support creation of comprehensive product documentation including specifications, user guides, and manuals.
Testing and Quality Assurance : Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure products meet industry standards and customer expectations.
Sales and Customer Service Support: Support Sales and Technical Support by training internal stakeholders and share product insights to provide exceptional customer service.
Marketing Support: Collaborate with Marketing team to develop strategies for product promotion, including creating compelling narratives and product positioning.
Tradeshows: Attend select tradeshows and present product selling points to prospective customers.
Travel Expectation: Approximately 10-15% (International and Domestic)
Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, or business administration
Minimum 2+ years of experience in product management or product development role
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an outgoing personality to engage with diverse teams and customers.
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
Familiarity or willingness to learn about water heating and boiler systems.
Adaptability and a proactive attitude towards learning new technologies and industry trends.
Driver for results, proven success in leading cross-functional teams to achieve successful results.
Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills.
Ability to work under pressure, make decisions, set goals, and adapt to different situations.
