We are hiring an Assistant Director of Housekeeping/Laundry to join our dynamic care teams at Webster Manor Rehab and Lanessa Extended Care!

This role works under the director and serves both facilities that adjoin each other. Weekly pay starting at $19 an hour.

As the Assistant Director of Housekeeping/Laundry, you assist in the planning, organizing, development, and direction of the overall operation of the housekeeping and laundry departments to ensure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

Experience & Education:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent preferred.

  • Must be knowledgeable in building cleaning and floor maintenance techniques.

  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in housekeeping services in a hospital, or long-term health care facility preferred.

  • Supervisor experience preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure residents’ rooms are neat, clean and free from odor.

  • On-call responsibilities as needed.

  • Create staff schedules as needed.

  • Wet mops floors daily.

  • Buff floors as requested.

  • Shampoo and extract carpets as per schedule.

  • Attend to spills immediately.

  • Empty trash liners and clean containers.

  • Clean bed and rails with disinfectant.

  • Clean all countertops, windowsills, overbed and bedside tables and furniture.

  • Strip, seal and refinish floors as per schedule.

  • Clean windows and mirrors.

  • Demonstrate correct safety techniques.

  • Respect and take of facility equipment and not wasteful of supplies.

  • Contribute to effective communication and pleasant working conditions.

  • Contribute to and promote resident and family relations.

  • Is knowledgeable in and ensures staff comply with privacy practices to protect residents’ health information.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills.

  • Maximize the potential of each employee supervised.

Specific Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

  • Oversees the quality and workmanship of all cleaning personnel and outside contractors.

  • Must be knowledgeable of housekeeping practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing housekeeping functions in the long-term care facility.

  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.

  • Must have the ability to plan, organize develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the housekeeping department.

  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., the appearance of the housekeeping areas, and must perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.

  • Must ensure compliance with building safety and fire codes.

  • Must complete necessary schedules, worksheets, logs and records of work performers and planners.

  • Serves on-call for emergencies and off-duty hours.

  • Represents department at pertinent facility meetings and in various capacities.

  • Supervises department personnel including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, orientating, and evaluating.

  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.

  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing housekeeping practices.

  • Must be able to communicate information effectively to appropriate personnel regarding emergency situations.
