Reporting to the SVP of Product Engineering, the AVP, Product Engineering is responsible for the technology vision, strategic oversight, lifecycle management and accountability for the successful operation of the product portfolio. The person oversees the projects, business objectives, and performance of the functions, its leaders and teamswith a focus on driving innovation and engineering excellence. Lead the development and maintenance of technology solutions and ensure a committed portfolio of technology solutions projects are delivered aligning with business goals. Work multi-functionally with other business units and leaders to deliver on large initiatives that improve our overall technology systems, processes and controls. Manage day-to-day systems, activities, and teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science. Professional knowledge in a specialized field, and MBA is preferred.

Experience: 8-15 years as Engineering Leader. P&C Insurance is a strong plus.

Knowledge: Extensive professional knowledge in Technology with a strong engineering mindset. Strong knowledge of leadership & management practices.

Decision Making: Decisions have a significant impact on results for a major portion of a company. Have demonstrated capability of data driven decision making. Interprets and operationalizes company policies. Determines organizational objectives; sets policy. Responsible for operations of major significance to the organization. Decisions potentially affect technical, financial, employee, or public relations standing of the company or a major business segment. Problems are abstract and impact multiple functions and portions of the company.

  • Ability to build strong engineering teams that enables achieving business goals

  • The ability to influence and get consensus from multi-functional leaders. Demonstrated capabilities managing sophisticated projects and initiatives across an organization.

  • Experience creating a larger IT strategic vision and plan that supports company strategy and growth.

  • A results oriented, collaborative leader who can build trust with teams and stakeholders. Demonstrate empathy to understand stakeholder needs and business requirements to find effective solutions.

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of IT controls and frameworks, standards, project development and management methods, compliance and onboarding/offboarding procedures.

  • Demonstrates a passion for the business of IT and insurance and understands the power of technology to transform business.

  • Demonstrated experience managing large initiatives aligning IT goals with the needs of the business.

  • Built, communicated and utilized organizational change procedures to mature and rollout new IT processes and systems within an organization.

  • Tracked operational metrics and measured success against those metrics.

  • Experience managing hybrid working environments across multiple offices and facilities and building and managing internal and external teams.

  • Experience of P&C insurance market products and leading the implementation of large programs

  • Strong executive presence, prepare executive content and deliver them
