Recreation Supervisor The Recreation Supervisor develops, coordinates and supervises community recreational, social and cultural programs and assists the Director of Recreation in the planning and administration of the department?s programs and activities. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties. Examples of Duties Plans, organizes and implements work according to a seasonal activities schedule. Coordinates, supervises and provides comprehensive management of year round seasonal and special events programs. Develops schedules, plans tournaments, trip and special events and prepares public relations information including development of recreation flyers. Assists in the coordination of use and scheduling of athletic fields, meeting rooms and rental facilities for recreational use. Monitors recreation programs to assure proper operation, safety and supervision. Coordinates activities with public, cultural and recreational organizations. Determines cancellation of events as necessary. Assists in the recruitment, training and evaluation of program personnel and seasonal staff; provides supervision and recommends promotion, disciplinary action or dismissal. Assists the Director in near-term and long range community recreational needs assessment and planning. Assist the Director in preparing annual budget recommendations including equipment, supplies and materials needed. Makes recommendations for fee schedules and projects revenues for budget making. Manages budget accounts and prepares payroll for programs. Assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of the Director. Receives, processes and accounts for activities and program revenues. Prepares statistical and narrative reports of some complexity. Prepares purchase specifications for materials, equipment and supplies. Qualifications Education and Experience: Associate\'s degree in Leisure Studies or a related field with one to three (1-3) years related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Special Requirements: Certification as a Park & Recreation Professional (CPRP) within six months of appointment; valid motor vehicle operator\'s license. Must hold certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED. Physical Demands: Work requires some agility and physical strength, such as moving in or about construction sites or over rough terrain, or standing or walking most of the work period. Occasionally, work may require lifting heavy objects and carrying them (up to 60 lbs.). There may be need to stretch and reach to retrieve materials. Usually, the work will not require extended physical effort over a significant portion of the workday. Motor Skills: Duties may involve assignments requiring application of hand and eye coordination with finger dexterity and motor coordination. Examples include driving a motor vehicle, operating a personal computer or climbing a ladder. Visual Demands: Visual demands include constantly reading documents for general understanding and for analytical purposes, with a need for color vision.
