Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston Administrative Assistant/Support in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts

Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston (OCB) was established in 1969 to offer patients the highest quality eye care and laser/surgical treatment. OCB recently joined forces with Eye Health Services to become the premier eye care provider in the region with nineteen practice locations in the greater Boston area and Cape Cod. In addition, OCB has five affiliated surgery and laser centers. OCB and its affiliates employ 700+ employees. The staff of 75 ophthalmologists uses the most advanced diagnostic, laser and surgical techniques available and their level of care has earned Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston a national and international reputation for excellence.

OCB is currently seeking an Administrative Assistant Support person for our West Yarmouth location with occasional travel to Plymouth and Falmouth as needed (training).


  • Associate’s degree or significant relevant experience; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred

  • Covid Vaccine; must provide vaccination card prior to start

  • Minimum of four years of experience in high volume professional/medical environment preferred

  • Experience in customer support and services

  • Team orientation in order to work effectively internally and externally on behalf of OCB

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Follow all HIPAA regulations

  • Ability to be flexible with changing work based on need on a regular, continuous basis

  • Excellent communication skills, tact and diplomacy, as well as skill in organizing, planning and prioritizing

  • The ability to travel to other offices as needed, for training, meetings or support. Training on our Practice Management position is in Plymouth and mandatory 1 day class. The ability to go to Falmouth is also required, especially during training time.


  • Provides a high level of administrative support to various administrative teams

  • Maintains control of and orchestrates physician’s schedule, patient care days and meetings

  • Communicates with patients to discuss procedures, lab work, physicals, consent forms and reports questions to physician

  • Functions as a resource to patients through verbal and written communication

  • Handles a high volume of patient calls

  • Assists with documenting procedures, handling co-management paperwork between surgeons and referring providers

  • Assists Medical Records Supervisor, with fulfilling medical records requests, returning patient phone calls and processing payments for records o Respond to ROI (release of information) requests o Scanning documents to update electronic health and medical records

  • Other duties as assigned
