What you will do

The COBRA Specialist is responsible for co-ordination and processing of daily activity relating to the administration of COBRA. The Specialist will also interact directly with both plan sponsors and plan participants to provide accurate and current information. The Specialist will also work closely with Account Managers during the implementation process for new groups and renewal of existing business.

In this role, you will also:

  • Coordinate the production and distribution of COBRA continuation notices

  • Provide customer service to plan participants regarding COBRA continuation

  • Maintain and update client rosters of pending and active plan participants

  • Generate and provide reports to clients on current pending and pending plan participants

  • Coordinate the scanning and processing of COBRA documents

  • Process COBRA payments in accordance with client-specific instructions

  • Update paid-thru dates in Claimfacts

  • Manage the termination of benefits for plan participants, including communication with clients and relevant parties (ex. Rx and dental companies)

  • Issue benefit termination notices to plan participants due to nonpayment or ineligibility

  • Notify plan participants when their COBRA extension is nearing its end

  • Revise letters and documentation in accordance with updates to COBRA laws and regulations

What you bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent education

  • Three to five years’ related experience

  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member

  • Ability to multitask efficiently and accurately

  • Must be detailed, analytical and accurate

  • Recognize the need for follow-thru and follow-up

  • Ability to work within specified timeframe and meet deadlines

  • Recognize and maintain confidentiality of work materials as appropriate

  • Comprehend and communicate Plan Document guidelines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
