Description
Manage ongoing programming in Preschool areas in a professional/confidential manner which incorporates the culturally sensitive, developmental philosophy of the Center to ensure the highest quality of care for children, as well as compliance with NAEYC standards and Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC) and QRIS requirements, and health and safety regulations. Hours: M-F 8:30-5:30
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum where children can learn and grow at their own pace, interact comfortably with adults, and have the opportunity to participate in individual and group [small and large] activities as appropriate to program area.
Supervise staff (in program area) in a supportive manner; encourage positive, effective communication among staff; plan meetings with team members;
Develop good relationships with parents using Strengthening Families model, open and consistent communication, planned activities, and scheduled parent conferences
Work with Director in working with families who are in need of intervention.
Notify Director and parents of any contagious illness contracted by a child enrolled in the program.
Review progress reports on each child using teaching strategies, and maintain records for children, staff and program per DEEC licensing, QRIS, UPK and NAEYC requirements.
Assist in preparing annual budget and manage purchasing for program area, including petty cash, within constraints of annual budget.
Attend scheduled staff meetings; maintain Health and Safety, CPR and First Aid certification; complete 20 hours of training each year as required by EEC; follow Individual Professional Development Plan.
Conduct monthly classroom/staff observation using class action plan ERS and Arnette Interaction scales.
Conduct monthly team meetings
Maintain QRIS/NAEYC quality standard in classrooms.
Review NAEYC classroom portfolios as needed.
Maintain student/teacher ratios at all times.
Perform other duties as requested.
Working with co-teacher to create and implement a rich curriculum that meets Mass Frameworks
Qualifications
Lead Teacher DEEC qualified required
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education required
Good communication and problem solving skills
Ability to work with families and children from diverse cultural backgrounds
Must be a team player
Ability to relate with co-workers and parents in cooperative/positive manner
Solid computer skills
