Job Description

The Market Development Manager plays a key role in the ESE Business Unit, supporting strategic initiatives and building customer partnerships to drive solution, product, and market development. This role requires collaborating across functions to engage customers (physician, administrative, technical, and IT) in key projects, obtaining their insights to guide strategies, roadmaps, and product evaluation.

The role focuses on three primary areas:

  1. Customer Partnerships – Establish strong relationships with key customers to support strategy, solution/product development, and evaluate 3rd party partnership opportunities

  2. Co-Creation and Market Insight – Coordinate co-creation account engagement, gather market insights, and support Reference Center programs.

  3. Subject Matter Expertise- Serve as a GI Unit expert for the Solutions Team, advising and educating them on a variety of clinical and operational topics

Job Duties

  • Build and maintain network of KOLs, key customers, and societies to enable ESE strategy and project execution.

  • Lead global "Voice of the Expert" (VOE) and leverage own expert insights from time spent in GI endoscopy space to assist ESE BU in developing strategies that deliver profitable value to targeted markets

  • Collaborate with Solution Leads, Digital Enablement, Sales and Marketing, and Product Leads to share access and develop global physician experts and thought leaders aligning with current and future strategic directions

  • Lead and produce, in partnership with with GI and ET BU, meaningful and impactful advisory boards and customer engagements.

  • Build and lead societal engagements that support the strategic and business goals of the ESE BU.

  • Steward the identification, creation and engagement of Co-Creation sites and Excellence Centers to support product development and market development initiatives.

  • Maintain the global pulse of relative industry trends, competitors, technologies, and direction. Participate in the teams that will utilize Market Development recommendations to proceed with strategic decision making.

  • Work closely with R&D and Product Management to improve and deliver more value to our customers through product enhancements and potential new product introductions

  • Participate in conferences, exhibitions and trade association meetings; leverage these opportunities to bring educational awareness back to the broader organization, uncover new opportunities, and continue to foster long-standing HCP KOL relationships, while also representing the ESE organization.

  • Work with Global business units to develop and execute customer market development programs

  • Develop Centers of Excellence for training, technology, development and research

  • Exhibit mastery in delivering presentations to audiences in the medical and healthcare industry as well as providing training to internal and external personnel (e.g.: Olympus sales and marketing, physicians, nurses, C-suite, etc.)

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) is required, preferably in a technical discipline. MS/MBA is highly preferred

  • Minimum of 6 years of professional medical device industry experience in the GI endoscopy space

  • Extensive customer facing experience required

  • Previous documented sales or marketing experience in the medical devices industry required; both preferred

  • Extensive knowledge of the currently evolving GI technology landscape required– adjacent technologies to the current Olympus EndoTherapy offering

  • 30% travel commitment (global)

Preferred:

  • New technology commercialization experience preferred

  • Prior Business Development experience preferred

  • Prior experience in working with luminary physicians at academic and tertiary care centers in multiple regions within the US is required; global reach is preferred

  • Excellent communication skills with all types (social, print, audio/visual) of media

  • Presentation skills in front of small and large groups with ability to adapt format and message based upon audience

  • Familiarity with MS Office, Lotus Notes and other ancillary software is essential

  • Ability to perform in-depth analysis, create an assessment with recommendation, and effectively communicate to influence decision-making

  • Expert-level ability to create presentation materials and develop a concise talk track tailored to a Business Leader audience – demonstration of this skill required in advance of hiring decision

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $101,523.00 - $142,132.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
