Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerJob Description

We're looking for an outstanding mechanical engineer drafter who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. This person will be responsible for developing 3D and 2D mechanical design and related analysis specifically for hardware tests for robotics. The ideal candidate will have a foundation in mechanical engineering suited for both prototype and production-level designs.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D and 2D mechanical designs and conduct related analysis for flight critical avionics systems.

• Design mechanical assemblies for electronics.

• Engage in rapid prototype tooling.

• Manage projects effectively using engineering project management software.

• Collaborate with other team members to develop and execute test plans, and collect and analyze data.

Essential Skills

• 3-4 years of experience as a mechanical engineer (less if holding a master's degree).

• Proficiency in MCAD software for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.

• Experience in designing mechanical assemblies for electronics.

• Experience with rapid prototype tooling.

• Strong communication and writing skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in thermal simulation analysis using ANSYS IcePak and/or Siemens Star CCM.

• Proficiency in mechanical stack-up analysis.

• Experience in structural load analysis.

• Familiarity with engineering project management software such as JIRA, Confluence, or other Agile tools.

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or an equivalent field.

Work Environment

The candidate will be involved in hardware testing across various robotics programs, ranging from prototype to production levels. The work involves developing test fixtures, executing test plans, and conducting data collection and analysis. The work environment is collaborative, requiring effective communication and teamwork.
