Amazon NPI Commissioning and Validation Engineer, Deployment Readiness in Westborough, Massachusetts

We are constantly innovating in the ways we are automating and accelerating the delivery of products and packages which includes building custom hardware and applying robotics, autonomy, supply chain optimization, machine learning, manipulation, image processing, and real-time data processing using distributed systems.

The WW Technology Deployment org is seeking a talented and solutions-oriented NPI Deployment Engineer to contribute to delivering transformational innovation to the business. You will be part of a team with the mission to ensure that robotics technologies maturing through the development pipeline are vetted and tested in the field, during Alpha and Beta deployments, to identify and resolve issues upstream before deployments at scale. This role is a key part of a technical team, with the following responsibilities:

Key job responsibilities

• Lead Commissioning and Validation (C&V) initiatives for new robotic systems and solutions throughout pre-Go-Live stages.

• Act as the expert in the deployment of NPI engineering, ensuring a seamless integration and optimization of new robotic technologies.

• Execute detailed test plans and validate procedures to confirm the readiness and effectiveness of new systems.

• Engage with cross-functional teams during commissioning phases to facilitate and refine the implementation process.

• Collaborate closely with the Deployment Readiness teams, sharing insights and feedback to streamline future deployment strategies.

• Problem-solve and provide solutions to enhance the efficiency and quality of robotic system installations.

• Uphold the highest standards of safety and quality throughout all commissioning and validation activities.

• Availability to travel up to 75% for on-site validation and commissioning tasks.

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby

  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience, with a preference for backgrounds in automation or robotics environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects from conception through to successful implementation.

  • A mindset oriented toward agile processes and continuous improvement, with a deep commitment to quality.

  • Proficient in troubleshooting a wide array of hardware, software, and network issues.

  • Experience with on-site work, particularly within the unique demands of a construction setting.

  • Exceptional business communication abilities, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Talent for articulating complex concepts through persuasive writing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java

  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Robotics, or a related specialization.

  • Relevant professional certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Associate or Linux Administration credentials.
