We are looking for an outstanding Senior Hardware Manager who innovates, loves solving hard problems, and never takes "no" for an answer. You will work hard, have fun, and of course, make history!

The primary role of the MSP team is to drive future innovation across all aspects of Customer Fulfillment and Packaging, from advancement of new materials to development of automation utilizing deep analytics and machine learning to determine the smartest, most efficient way to deliver packages to our customers.

A successful candidate will have broad experience and deep skills in concept design to production across a broad array of hardware platforms with demonstrated experience integrating complex systems with high quality and reliability across never-been-done-before projects which include a high degree of ambiguity. You will lead Mechanical and Electrical Engineering disciplines and be required to work successfully across multiple engineering disciplines and operations teams to drive first-time right engineering to deliver products which have a broad impact for Amazon. This candidate requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, collaboration, analytical and abstract thinking, time management and organizational skills.

  • Leading and developing a team of mechanical and electrical engineers.

  • Lead the hardware design work-streams, including modeling, load/bearing calculations, and 3D/2D design

  • Support safety certification of projects/platforms

  • Participate in meetings to optimize for customer experience, supply chain, and sustainability

About the team

The Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team develops automated solutions and sustainable packaging across Amazon's operations, focusing on customer experience and waste reduction.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering

  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures

  • 5+ years experience in Sr. Engineering Leadership (Manager of Managers)

  • 10+ years designing complex, mechatronic or robotics systems for Industrial environments

  • Proficiency in 3D design and simulation software including but not limited to Solidworks, Ansys, Creo, Catia

  • PLM, GD&T, and manufacturing process knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing complex, automated material handling equipment, packaging, and/or consolidation/sortation systems

  • Ability to travel 25% to business locations and project sites

  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production

  • Experience with the project management of technical projects

  • Understanding of industrial machinery regulations and functional safety standards (UL, CE, OSHA

  • Operations experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Advanced simulation expertise
