Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC LEADER, Position Description Number D1410000 and is part of the MA ANG 104th FW, National Guard. This is a Bargaining Unit position. Responsibilities

(1) On a regular and recurring basis, leads three or more aircraft mechanics, crew chiefs, and specialist personnel performing work in the inspection docks. (2) Monitors the work of assigned personnel, sets the pace, passes along assignments, and assures that materials, tools, equipment, and stock are available. Works along with aircraft mechanics and specialist personnel performing journeyman work as required. (3) Insures that assigned personnel are fully utilized and work is accomplished in accordance with established time frames and priorities. Checks work in progress and/or upon completion for compliance with the supervisor's instructions, appropriate technical orders, etc. Serves as a technical advisor by answering questions regarding appropriate procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives. Ensures that safety, housekeeping, security and other environmental rules are followed. (4) Advises the supervisor of overall work operations, status and progress of work, causes for delays, problems encountered, and individual performance (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees). As requested by the supervisor, provides functional planning for the inspection docks. On a daily basis, recommends adjustments in work schedules to provide optimum utilization of personnel in support of functional requirements. (5) Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training that has provided the candidate with sufficient knowledge to complete the work of this occupational series. Experience or training which demonstrates the candidates ability to lead other technicians engaged in the duties performed by this occupational series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of months/years. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

If you accept an Active Guard Reserve (AGR) position or a Military Technician (Mil Tech) Permanent or Indefinite position after 25 February 2010 where membership in the National Guard is a condition of employment, your bonus will be terminated with no recoupment.
