State of Massachusetts Security Team Specialist I in Westfield, Massachusetts

Western Massachusetts Hospital, located in Westfield MA is currently hiring for the position of Security Specialist I. Western Massachusetts Hospital is a 100 bed long term medical and specialty care hospital owned and operated by the Department of Public Health (DPH). * *Please Note: This schedule for this position is 32 hoursThursday 4pm-12am,Friday 12am-8am, Saturday 12am-8am andSunday 12am-8am. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): _ · Patrols all buildings, grounds and adjacent areas of the hospital at regular intervals and guards against trespass, theft, fire and damage to property. · Maintains order among visitors and staff; maintains motor vehicle traffic controls on hospital grounds including parking, speeding and other traffic conditions and takes necessary measures to prevent unauthorized use of hospital roads and parking facilities. · Performs security duties such as screening visitors, directing traffic, and enforcing parking controls · Provides personal protection to individuals as required including but not limited to, searching for missing goods and persons, conducting surveillance, and investigating complaints and reports of suspicious activities. · Assist in case of emergencies such as heavy snowstorms, internal or external disaster, and calling for professional assistance. · Facilitates in-service trainings as needed on fire and crime prevention, and basic safety standards and practices for hospital personnel/staff and outside agencies utilizing hospital buildings and/or grounds. · Coordinates the maintenance of hospital firefighting equipment, alarm systems and other safeguards; reports defects and request repairs to ensure compliance with safety standards and requirements. · Monitors hospital switchboard, gauges and alarm indicator panels; takes necessary action in event of malfunction or alarm, including system resets. · Prepares reports on investigations conducted and noteworthy incidents during tour of duty. _Required Qualifications: _ · Ability to deal tactfully with others and interact with individuals who are under physical and/or emotional stress. · Talent for maintaining a calm manner in stressful and emergency situations. · Skilled in making decisions and acting quickly in dangerous or emergency situations. · Capacity to exercise discretion in handling confidential information. · Demonstrated ability to gather information through questioning individuals, conducting interviews and gathering information by examining records and documents. · Ability to lift heavy objects or persons _Preferred Qualifications: _ · Prior health care facility security experience. · Ability to solve problems and relate to hospital staff, constituents and other community members in a positive and professional manner. · Talent for recognizing the cultural diversity of the campus community and ensure sensitive and equitable treatment of all who work and visit the campus. /_About Western MA Hospital:_/ The Western Massachusetts Hospital is the only public hospital operating in the western region of Massachusetts with a mission to serve as a medical safety net for many uninsured and under-insured residents in the region.
