RedHat Data Center Manager in Westford, Massachusetts
The Red Hat Products and Technologies Enterprise Experience and Delivery (PnT EXD) Infras Platforms Labs and Data Center team is looking for an experienced Data Center Manager to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you will join a team of globally diverse, determined, and clever lab engineers and system administrators. The Labs and Data Center team provides Red Hat's Engineering and Customer Engagement teams with lab infrastructure support and services. Rapid hardware deployments, break fix support, lab services administration, and customer bug reproducer administration are just a few of the Labs team's core responsibilities. The Labs team values transparent communication and excellent customer service above all else. The role will require you to have excellent leadership, great people management skills, organizational abilities, and the ability to work across teams inside of PnT and Red Hat at large. Effective team management and the ability to understand and resolve customer challenges and focus on continuous improvement will define your success in this role. As a Data Center Manager, you will report directly to the EXD Infras Platforms Labs and Data Center senior manager. Primary job responsibilities
Manage the day to day operations of a team of lab engineers and system administrators
Improve the team’s technical ability, utilization, and overall efficiency by establishing and fostering best practices and creating individual development plans
Collaborate closely with leadership peers to deliver expected results
Build feedback mechanisms for business stakeholders to keep partnerships efficient
Handle escalations and maintain priority for each project
Guide problem and incident management to conclusion, up to and including root cause and corrective actions
Establish and recommend policies on system use and services
Help manage the backlog of work and prioritize with senior leadership
Perform one-on-one performance and coaching sessions with all team members on a regular basis
Act as an agent of change to help mature the organization, and emphasize focus on delivering excellent service to our stakeholders
Management of on call to ensure we have 24/7 coverage for our Infrastructure Platform
Facilitate team building activities and encourage global collaboration
Work closely with peers in different regions to ensure we have one voice across the team
Make presentations to customers and client audiences or professional peers
1+ year(s) of experience as an associate manager of a support or systems operations team OR 2+ years of experience in a team lead or technical leadership role in a support or systems operations team
5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure operations or engineering
Excellent people management skills, including mapping career paths and practicing motivational behaviors
Ability to connect and guide teams through rapid change and maintain focus on delivering strategic initiatives
Excellent communication, presentation, influencing, and relationship-building skills; ability to communicate complex problems in a non-technical and simplified manner
Passionate about customer success and satisfaction
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work out of normal business hours when required
Willingness to travel up to 10%, depending on needs
