Senior Engineering Manager - Embedded Software Engineering (Hybrid)
Raytheon Technologies Engineering in Westford, MA, is looking for a candidate to fill a Senior Manager position. This position will lead a team of 15 embedded software engineers developing a new generation of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Imaging systems.
The successful candidate for this position will have strong technical, organizational, and leadership skills as well as project management experience to enable predictable execution by the team. The candidate will be responsible for performance management, talent acquisition, and career development to position the team for strong performance now and into the future. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to motivate and empower a team. An individual in this role will require strong written and verbal communications skills to support interactions with technical and non-technical personnel across the business. Travel within the US and overseas may be required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leading the team, ensuring success in meeting planned program milestones and activities, and participating in technical activities to coach and influence the team.
Responsible for developing staffing plans and providing overall administrative management of the team.
Responsible for growing team capabilities to meet project needs through staff mentoring and development, and on-boarding of new hires.
Perform day-to-day employee engagement, actively evaluating individual employee performance, providing feedback and coaching.
Oversee and participate in development of engineering bids to ensure success.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws / regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience OR In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leading teams in a formal engineering manager role.
Experience with product design and development life cycle activities including requirement capture, detailed design, development, and verification activities.
Experience with embedded software development, software and hardware integration and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with cybersecurity for embedded systems is desired
DoD experience is a plus
Experience with Agile development is a plus
