About This Role

Associate System Administrators collaborate with a diverse team to support classified information systems. Success in this role means you can develop, implement, and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments supporting the warfighters. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and develop solutions to solve infrastructure problems. Knowledge of Windows and Linux desktop and server operating systems is required. The Associate System Administrator works closely with other System Administrators and Information Security Team, and is responsible for information system patching, anti-virus updates and installations, vulnerability management, and user account management. You will work with Cybersecurity professionals, such as ISSM, ISSO, SA and IT to maintain security compliance requirements. This candidate will perform desktop support, resetting passwords, installing, network configuration and troubleshooting, upgrading applications, and respond to incidents that occur on the information systems under the direction of a Senior/System Administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and maintain systems support for software, hardware, and servers: test, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues related to Classified Systems/Networks

  • Perform application updates and installs, operating system upgrades and patching, RAID configuration & monitoring, system backups & restoration, system image creation and disk cloning

  • Maintain system security requirements per DAAPM, JSIG, NISPOM and applicable procedures under the guidance of Senior/Systems Administrators or the Classified Information Security team.

  • Provide timely technical support for users and work with them to solve existing problems to include software issues, account management and miscellaneous computing requirements

  • Troubleshooting to resolve technical problems on hardware, operating systems, and applications

  • Support Anti-virus Installation and Maintenance

  • Support overall Authority to Operate (ATO) activities

  • Assist with incident response and backup processes and documentation

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field – Any prior military experience is a plus.

  • Due to the nature of the work,an Active Secret Clearance is required to start work. Further into the work, person onboarded will be upgraded to a Top Secret Clearance.

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a Network / System Administrator / IT

  • Experience and familiarity with the following operating systems – Windows Server (2016, 2019, 2022), Windows 10 Enterprise/SHB Images, Windows 11

  • Experience with Linux operating system is a plus (RedHat 7, 8, 9)

  • Knowledge of encryption devices, servers, switches, routers, and firewalls

  • Knowledge of network protocols, security, and troubleshooting

  • Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF)

  • Have and be able to retain relevant certification (e.g., Security , Network , CCNA MCSE, RHCE, etc.)

  • Ability to lift 15 pounds.

  • Microsoft Group Policy fundamentals

  • Experience with Nessus, SCAP Compliance Checker, STIG Viewer, Ivanti is a plus

  • Ability to collaborate with team members to complete assigned tasks.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to handle new tasks without supervision

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with classified computing environments is a plus.

  • Managing the lifecycle of equipment in an infrastructure setting.

  • Active Top Secret Clearance is a plus.

Education:

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

Current working knowledge and a minimum of (2-3) years relevant experience based on the duties described above in accordance with the DoD and/or Non-DoD security directives. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of security awareness among IS users. Strong technical, organizational and multi-tasking skills, ability to work in a team environment or independently. Strong interpersonal, reporting, and documentation skills are essential.

Must hold or be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140/8570 Certification requirement (CompTIA Security CE, Network , CCNA or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.

Security Clearance:

Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • SECRET (Minimum) Clearance

  • Have a background investigation closure date within the last 5 years

  • Be able to obtain Top Secret (If required) and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access (if required)

Special Working Conditions:

Working in Closed Areas , SCIF’s and work on-site (Not Remote or Hybrid)
