Engineering Technician needed for an immediate Direct Hire position with a high growth R+D company in the Stoneham, Massachusetts area.

This individual will support an awesome team that specializes in High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) based transmission lines that enable long distance, low loss, cost-effective power transfer in small right-of-way areas.

The Engineering Lab team is responsible for building test beds for a wide range of components and materials supporting our products. This person would be responsible for supporting the company's systems and products by designing and executing experiments to evaluate product performance.

The right person will have outstanding communication (written and verbal) and be a motivated, self-starter who is detail-oriented with a positive approach to problem solving. This individual would follow SOPs to assemble mechanical and electrical laboratory equipment using a variety a skills.

Must have at least 2+ years of related experience with the ability to read and understand engineering drawings as well as use a multitude of hand tools and electromechanical test equipment.

responsibilities:

• Build and assemble mechanical and electrical laboratory equipment; set-up sensing and recording equipment including data acquisition, power supplies, current sensors, voltage sensors, etc.

• Maintain laboratory site and experimental facilities, e.g., orderliness, cleanliness, coordination of craft work, site preparation, site clean-up

• Produce and follow detailed SOP's, documentation for lab procedures, equipment, and parameters

• Work with hand-operated power tools, basic shop equipment; such as ladders, scissor lift, forklift, and other heavy equipment and also work with with liquid nitrogen, pressurized systems, & other electrical equipment

EXPERIENCE:

• 2+ years of experience building electro-mechanical test equipment in a laboratory environment

• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)

• Possess a proven mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand tools, power tools

• Experience using test equipment such as multimeters, calipers, etc.

• Experience with Liquid Cryogens, handling Heat Transfer Systems, handling Heat Transfer Systems is a plus!

• Must have outstanding communication (written and verbal) and be a motivated, self-starter who is detail-oriented with a positive approach to problem solving

• Must thrive on effectively managing multiple projects with competing priorities that require making decisions under pressure and working under tight deadlines.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced ever changing R&D, team-oriented environment
