To perform the activities of the Plating department such as handling hazardous chemicals, weighing/measuring powders, and liquids to plate materials by following written instructions/batch cards. The Plating Operator will be actively involved in various processes within the plating department including wet processes such as aluminum, copper, nickel, gold, and glass plating. The position will also facilitate wastewater and boiler operation.

Shift Schedule: 10 Hour Shifts; 1:00pm- 11:30pm, M-Th with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

• Works to a daily schedule and must meet or exceed output targets by understanding the product flow and handling procedures within the department.

• Using a computer, inputs and/or reviews data for the purpose of tracking and moving material for use in the process.

• Ensures that all chemicals and materials are weighed correctly and used in the correct sequence.

• Communicates between departments to notify others when problems arise.

• Utilize Forklift truck and hand jacks to lift and move materials to storage or work area.

• Assist Process Engineers in running chemical process evaluations.

• Perform preventative maintenance on all chemical machines.

• Complete all internal departmental documentation accurately.

• Follow all safety measures when handling chemicals and hazardous waste with regard to mixing and disposing of chemicals; includes wearing the personal protection equipment while handling chemicals to ensure their safety. Note – Plating Specialist will undergo chemical handling training prior to the start of performing these duties and will actively participate in ongoing hazardous waste and chemical handling training.

• Perform all tasks as requested and assigned by management.

• Work cross-functionally with milling team based upon business needs.

• Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must possess High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

• Minimum of 6+ years of manufacturing experience required.

• US Citizen or US Permanent Resident Status required.

• Ability to read, write, and understand basic English required.

• Work independently with minimal supervision and excellent time management skills are a necessity.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

• Ability to work in a team environment and be a team player.

• Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization as well as outside services and at meetings.

• Must be able to adjust quickly to changes in priorities, be goal-driven and self-motivated.

• Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Windows.

• Properly handle chemicals by reading and understanding SDS data sheets.

• Wastewater Treatment Operator 2I license preferred or required to achieve while in role.

• Fireman 2nd class license preferred or required to achieve while in role.

• Powered industrial trucks (forklift license) preferred or required to achieve while in role.

• Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
