American Tower Supervisor Attorney in Woburn, Massachusetts

The Team

We are seeking a Supervising Attorney to join American Tower’s U.S. Tower division’s Legal department. The U.S. Tower Legal team negotiates, drafts, reviews and administers real estate transactions and tenant licensing agreements and prepares vendor agreements, supports M&A transactions, crafts innovation agreements, and oversees compliance matters. Day to day you will supervise a team of legal professionals preparing high-quality documents and providing thoughtful analyses and guidance regarding complex business transactions and escalated disputes. You may also draft and negotiate transactional documents in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment. As a Supervising Attorney, you will partner cross-functionally with colleagues to optimize American Tower’s business operations by developing strategic contract terms and business-centric issue resolution strategies.

What You Need To Succeed

  • Juris Doctor degree and a license to practice law in any state required.

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience required.

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.

  • Experience in real estate law or commercial transactions preferred. Demonstrated understanding of telecommunications and real estate law and policy; ability to apply legal expertise and experience to make sound business decisions.

  • Excellent legal drafting skills; exemplary attention to detail in the preparation and review of agreements.

  • Excellent negotiation skills; ability to critically assess and effectively resolve complex issues and disputes.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.

  • Strong organization, planning, and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for self and team to meet requirements and deadlines.

  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.

  • Strong leadership skills; ability to drive and motivate team to achieve results.

What You Can Offer Us

  • Supervise Staff Attorneys and Paralegals to ensure accurate and timely drafting of a wide array of documents relating to real estate and telecommunications tenant licensing, including but not limited to ground leases, easements, tower licenses, and title curative documents.

  • Supervise Staff Attorneys and Paralegals to ensure that legal approval for core business functions, such as rent and revenue share payments, ownership changes, license assignments, and/or terminations, is provided timely and accurately.

  • Develop best practices and procedures for legal team functions, including reviewing and revising template documents, preparing new agreements, and formulating procedures to ensure transactions adequately protect American Tower’s interests and comply with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Provide legal analyses and guidance to Staff Attorneys and other functional groups.

  • Zealously advocate for American Tower’s interests during negotiations and proceedings with external parties, including landlords, customer representatives, and government and regulatory officials.

  • Work with internal and external parties to craft creative solutions to resolve complex conflicts and protect American Tower’s interests.

  • As a Supervising Attorney you are responsible for the recruitment, performance management, and career development of Attorneys. You’ll also be expected to cultivate a collaborative team dynamic that enables us to meet our business objectives.

  • Other duties as assigned.
