State of Massachusetts Audio Visual Equipment Tech II in Worcester, Massachusetts

Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital is seeking an Audio-Visual Tech II to Perform preventive maintenance and minor repair and operate audiovisual equipment; maintain schedules for the use of the audiovisual equipment; requisition supplies; provide entry level PC support, software and hardware (Windows/Mac platforms) and perform related work as required. Maintain, repair, operate and advise others on the use of audio-visual equipment, PC software and hardware and all related peripherals. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_ * Responsible for set-up, assessment, repair (internal and contracted) and monitoring of all A/V equipment at WRCH; including but not limited to all conference rooms, gymnasium, Downtown, Court Room as examples. * Performs preventative maintenance and minor repair of audiovisual equipment, PC hardware and peripherals and decides if equipment should be repaired or replaced. * Uses electrical and laboratory test equipment including, but not limited to, ohmmeters, voltmeters and amp meters to measure and calculate voltage, amperage, wattage and resistance as necessary to test for open circuits, find defects, etc. * Requisitions and distributes supplies such as hand radios, keyboards and laptops. * Gives technical advice and instructions on such matters as the use, maintenance and repair of audiovisual equipment, PC software and hardware and methods for making audiovisual presentations or productions through the of desktops, laptops and iPads. * Operates audiovisual equipment such as recorders, projectors or amplifiers to troubleshoot equipment or to give presentations. * Contracts vendors to arrange for calibration or repair of equipment or to get information on equipment to recommend purchase or rental. * Maintains a schedule for the use and maintenance of equipment. * Prepares reports of equipment usage and repair. * Designs audiovisual setups for presentations. _Required Qualifications:_ * Knowledge of the types and uses of audiovisual equipment such a as still projectors, smart televisions, Crestron system. * Uses of material and supplies used in audiovisual work and entry level IT support * Principles of basic electronics as applied to audiovisual equipment, * Types and uses of testing equipment used in audiovisual area. * Appropriate identification equipment used to mark electrical or electronic products and equipment. _Preferred Qualifications:_ * Knowledge of the policies, procedures, specifications, standards, and guidelines governing assigned unit activities. * Familiar with the types and uses of agency forms. * Knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations governing assigned unit activities. * Principles, practices, and techniques of supervision. _About Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WHRC):_ Located on over 100 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations. WRCH provides inpatient services to 260 inpatient adults, inclusive of a Deaf Inpatient Mental Health Service: 30 inpatient adolescents and 30 residential adolescents, in either an Intensive Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) or a Behavioral Intensive Residential Treatment Program (BIRT). _DMH Mission Statement:_ The Department of Mental Health assures and provides access to services and supports to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages, enabling them to live, work and participate in their communities. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have (A) at least two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, technical experience in the repair and/or maintenance of audiovisual equipment including projectors, tape recorders, videotape devices, phonographic equipment, etc. or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. An Associate's or higher degree with a major in electronics or electrical engineering may be substituted for a maximum of 1 year of the required experience.* II. A diploma or certificate from a recognized trade or technical school above high school level with a major in electronics or electricity may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.* Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. Special Requirements: Based on assignment, may require possession of: 1) A First-Class Radio- telephone Operator's license issued by the Federal Communications Commission, and 2) a Master Technical license issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Radio and Television Technicians. *Executive Order #595:As a condition of employment, successful applicants will be required to have received COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption as of their start date.
