AbbVie Lab Coordinator in Worcester, Massachusetts

  • Interface with vendors, OEM, and internal service organizations to address laboratory equipment service needs.

  • Provide administrative support throughout equipment lifecycle (onboarding, maintenance/repair, decommissioning).

  • Maintain Maximo database in support of equipment location and spend tracking as well as storage of equipment warranties and service contracts.

  • Receive incoming work request and generate workorders on demand.

  • Transition vendor communication for service initiations from scientific owners to coordinator to serve as liaison and escort to on-site vendor service personnel

  • Process service contract renewals, including review of equipment reliability histories, determination of insourcing potential, and overall assessment of cost benefits.

  • Coordinate IS requests for vendor access to IS systems, and any other onsite needs for calibration, servicing, and testing.

  • Sign off on service reports and provide summaries of work done to area scientists.

  • Work with department leadership to develop and refine processes in support of department functions.

  • Monitor Insight motes for freezer temperature and performance analytics. Work with the capital planning team to determine which freezers need replacement as end of life approaches. Critical requirement for freezer health to prevent loss of product and research. Engineering is transitioning to no longer support this function for PSPUR/PSCC/PA/SUL

  • Years of experience/education and/or certifications required:

  • College Degree or equivalent experience. A technical degree (Engineering or Science) is preferred.

  • At least 2+ years of experience with laboratory equipment and practices, either having served as a lab analyst, lab equipment service provider, or both.

    • What are the top 3-5 skills requirements should this person have?
    1. Proficient in data entry, analysis, and presentation, particularly within Maximo, COGNOS, and SAP environments.

    2. Strong organization and planning skills.

    3. Effective written and oral communication skills capable of accommodating a diverse audience.

    4. Capable of independently developing creative solutions in a fast-paced environment.

    5. Self-motivated and positive attitude with a great desire to contribute to our success.

  • What is a nice to have (but not required) regarding skills, requirements, experience, education, or certification?

  • Prior experience with Abbvie and ABC.

  • Coordinating with scientists, coordinators, Maximo team, and reporting to business owners.

  • Organization to track open projects and requests.

    • What type of environment is this person working in?
  • Combination of both group setting and individual setting.

    • Work Schedule (Define days,# of hours)/ Is Overtime offered or required? If yes, how many hours, what impact to scheduled working hours?
  • 40 hours per week, 5 days, occasional off hours work for emergencies. Overtime over 40 hours for time worked.

    • Does this position offer the ability to work remotely on a regular basis or is it an on-site role? If remote opportunity exists, what are the options (i.e. 1 day remote, 4 days on-site)?
  • Once baseline Maximo update has been established and COGNOS reporting setup, remote opportunities could be available.

    • Is the worker onshore or offshore? (If offshore confirm with manager that the worker will align to a USD Cost Center for invoicing purposes.) If no, escalate to Operations Manager
  • Onshore.
