CS Energy Lead Civil Engineer in Worcester, Massachusetts

CS Energy is hiring a Lead Civil Engineer. The Lead Civil Engineer will be working with our Engineering and Estimating team supporting Business Development and Operations teams to both design civil plans and review 3rd party designs of solar PV systems. The Lead Civil Engineer will play an integral and active role in helping CS Energy acquire new business and execute projects within budget constraints. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead engineer will be involved in the overall success of CS Energy Project, making sure that the project follows all standard engineering practices and principles.

  • Work with team to Review and prepare design documents for solar civil design including required design calculations, drawings, and civil specifications.

  • Interpret and apply standards including relevant building & land use codes.

  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, plans, tests, aerial photographs, soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to evaluate surface and subsurface conditions of each project site

  • Strong ability to integrate both cost and technical requirements to arrive at an optimized solution for site work and foundation design

  • Conduct site visits to support site evaluation, suitability, and due diligence efforts

  • Create and review of structural drawings and calculations

  • Coordinate geotechnical and pile load capacity testing at project sites, analyze results to determine project feasibility

  • Review and approve construction submittals

  • Review, evaluate and answer RFI’s from project teams and subcontractors

  • Support operations project management team during construction.

  • Participate in both client and 3rd party engineer meetings to support CS Energy teams.

  • Manage and Review 3rd party design civil sets to ensure the most cost-effective approach is being used.

  • Communicate complex Civil, Geotechnical & Structural engineering concepts and derived conclusion internally and externally to support risk analyses on projects.

  • Grow and develop new civil and structural engineering capabilities of the team

  • Develop departmental engineering standard operating procedures and training for the engineering team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Related Field

  • 10+ years of experience in civil design (experience in design of solar plant site layouts and/or structural foundations is an advantage)

  • PE license highly desired

  • Must have experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3d & GIS.

  • Ability to participate in conceptual level discussions of Renewable Solar Power Plants or Battery Storage Projects.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to details

  • Expertise building a team in a growth market by assessing, recruiting, and developing A-players

  • Ability to work well with others, multi-task and manage effectively in a deadline-driven, challenging environment – accurate and calm under pressure

  • Proven success in managing and mentoring employees

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent Communication Skills (verbal & written)

  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed
