Description and Responsibilities

Open Sky is in search of a Maintenance Technician to join our in-house maintenance team at our newest program, Community Compass! Open Sky Community Services, in collaboration with the Department of Corrections, is excited to announce a first of its kind program in the state of Massachusetts that supports the re-entry of returning citizens who have been recently released from the Department of Corrections, and other individuals who have a history of Justice System Involvement. The program is community-driven and fosters active community involvement, and engagement. The program offers a safe , judgement free, resource rich environment that breaks down barriers to reintegration while providing access to essential, customized resources, and supports a mission to invest in each individual’s success. The scope of services includes outreach and engagement, food and nutrition assistance, educational and job placement services, housing assistance as well as healthcare and addiction treatment. The Maintenance Technician will work under the direction of the Director of Facilities with collaboration from the Community Compass Operations Director. They will be responsible for general maintenance and upkeep The Maintenance Technician will be assigned a company vehicle and provided tools.

The Maintenance Technician will work under the direction of the Director of Facilities with collaboration from the Community Compass Operations Director. to provide general maintenance and upkeep of the Community Compass Program. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who is handy and has a knack for maintaining property, including upkeep of electrical and plumbing fixtures, painting, light carpentry, and exterior needs. They are confident with performing maintenance work with safety in mind. They like stable, consistent work and pay, with a great a benefits package including generous paid time off, and access to a great team of other maintenance technicians.

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Community Compass Operations Director to develop routine and preventative maintenance schedules for the properties in the territory and perform the tasks identified within the established timelines.

  • Plan, initiate and execute projects, including understanding, interpretation and application of procedural directions.

  • Collaborate with Operations Director to develop an apprenticeship plan with identified individuals served. Ensure safety compliance standards are met during oversight of individuals served work.

  • Remove snow from walkways and entrance ways and maintain landscaping. Maintain the building utility systems, electrical, heating, ventilation, elevator and fire protection.

  • Utilize the Property Services Software (WorXhub) to complete work orders assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Director and Program Staff.

  • Assist co-workers with landscaping and snow removal at Open Sky Community Services properties as needed

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required.

  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record, required.

  • Physically able to operate a company vehicle (van) and perform maintenance duties, which includes working on ladders, lifting, and moving large items, required.

  • Basic knowledge and a knack for common repairs and upkeep.

  • Customer-minded, reliable, and open to new opportunities.
