WBDC Project Manager in Worcester, Massachusetts

Project Manager Worcester Business Development Corporation (WBDC) is a non-profit business organization whose mission is to serve as an innovative and leading force in the economic development of the City of Worcester and Worcester County resulting in job creation and growth in the tax base. It achieves these goals through real estate transactions, acquiring and improving property, and availing itself of federal, state, and local programs to assist in these efforts. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Under direction from the Director of Construction and Director of Property Management per goals and strategies of the WBDC, to plan, develop, coordinate, direct and supervise a number of engineering and construction projects. Apply professional skills and knowledge in connection with the investigation, design, construction and maintenance of varied engineering, environmental remediation, and construction projects. GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK \ Assist in evaluating engineering data to develop project scope and creating an action plan. \ Assist in developing cost estimates, engineering contract documents and reviewing/processing payment requisitions. \ Plans projects and consults with third party engineers to achieve compliance with grant requirements and reporting. \ Acts as construction representative on WBDC development projects related to scheduling, contractor selection, construction alternatives, etc. \ Conduct routine inspections of properties owned by WBDC as well as client owned and operated facilities to include grounds and equipment to insure their full efficiency and security. BACKGROUND REQUIRED \ Applicants may have a bachelor\'s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or architecture from a recognized college or university and at least 3 years of full-time experience in a professional capacity. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS \ Experience in project management, construction oversight preferred. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Elements \ Oversight of a number of important engineering projects, including, but not limited to, knowledge of design documents related to streets, working knowledge of subdivision plans, environmental remediation, demolition, drainage and flood control. \ Proficiency in compiling and reviewing public and private bids. Ability to analyze change in scope of work during design and construction. Performs cost feasibility studies, can advise on means and methods of construction. \ Review reports and determine the need for maintenance or repair. \ Oversee and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in the maintenance and repair of buildings and related structures on site. \ Inspects building, related structures and/or building utility systems to determine the need for cost of materials required for maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts; notes hazardous conditions; and establishes work priorities based on safety requirements and the operational needs of the facility. \ Maintains records and prepares reports to provide information to Director of Property Management concerning work progress, work completed, costs, problems encountered, equipment and materials used, and to make recommendations concerning assigned activities. \ Inspects work in progress and completed work to verify adherence or compliance to specifications and standards and to prepare reports concerning work activities. \ Writes Specifications for and estimates the costs of repairs, remodeling, or alterations to be completed by contract. \ Performs other related duties as required
