State of Massachusetts Rehabilitation Counselor C in Wrentham, Massachusetts

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is looking for an enthusiastic and inspirationalRehabilitation Counselor Cto work at the Wrentham Developmental Center in the Vocational Department. The Rehabilitation Counselor is the program supervisor and is responsible for the daily operation of work and volunteer programs at the facility and in the community. _Duties and Responsibilities:_ *The duties and responsibilities stated are a general summary and not all inclusive. * Supervise Vocational Instructors through observation, meetings, and performance evaluations. * Responsible for clinical oversight for all vocational participants. * Schedule staffing assignments, monitor attendance, environmental oversight, and skill developmental for the Vocational Department. * Training of staff on implementation strategies and data collection. * Develop documentation for ISP meetings, assessments, goals and objectives, program development and implementation, data collection and writing progress reports. * Required to carry a small caseload and provide direct clinical services. * The departments training liaison and is responsible for scheduling and/or instructing a variety of new and annually mandated trainings for current and new employees. *_Preferred Qualifications:_ * Basic computer knowledge needed. * Experience in principle, practices, techniques, and counseling with vocational rehabilitation. * Capable in types and uses of tests used to determine consumers interested aptitudes, skills, and occupational preferences. * General knowledge with principle and practices of psychology and psychopathology related to physically and intellectually handicapped. * Skillful with types and symptoms of intellectual, emotional, and developmental disorders. * Adept in communicating effectively in oral and written expression. * Competent in dealing tactfully and motivating others. _Agency Requirements:_ * Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. * Must possess current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License. _Work Location:_ Wrentham, MA _Work Schedule:_ Full Time - 40 Hours Working: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday Days off: Sunday and Saturday _About the DDS Agency:_ The Department of Developmental Services is dedicated to creating, in partnership with others, innovative and genuine opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate fully and meaningfully in, and contribute to, their communities as valued members. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE: At least four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in social work, social casework, vocational counseling, employment counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or educational counseling. SUBSTITUTIONS: - A Bachelor's or higher degree in rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation counseling, education of the physically or emotionally handicapped, education of the multiple handicapped, education of the learning disabled, social work, psychology, human services, or counseling may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience. - A Bachelor's or higher degree in a major other than rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation counseling, education of the physically or emotionally handicapped, education of the multiple handicapped, education of the learning disabled, social work, psychology, human services, or counseling may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience on the basis of four years of education for one year of experience. - A Master's or higher degree in social work, psychology, human services, rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation counseling, or counseling may be substituted for an additional year of the required experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience. - Licensure as a Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor by the Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health Professionals or Certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification may be substituted for the required experience. - One year of education equals 30 semester hours. Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
