STARTING RATE OF PAY: $62.49 per hour

**Union Represented Position**

The Overhead Hot Stick Trouble Shooters are responsible for the maintenance and repair of electric transmission and distributions systems. Candidate will work in the field, usually under abnormal system conditions, principally in connection with the operation, maintenance and repair of overhead, pad- mounted , and occasionally underground plant and equipment, with a focus on service continuity. The work of the Overhead Hot Stick Trouble Shooter involves work on energized and de-energized lines and equipment, at all voltage levels, utilizing Eversource approved work methods, equipment, and tools. Adheres to a culture of safety at all times.

Work is performed in stations, buildings and in the field, in connection with the inspection, operation and clearing or repair of faulty and unsafe conditions on transmission, distribution system supply, distribution, and street lighting systems, apparatus and equipment, requiring considerable independent judgment.

The Overhead Hot Stick Trouble Shooter is responsible for working in a safe and productive manner while adhering to Eversource standards and work methods resulting in work of high quality.

Assumes the responsibilities of all lower classifications of an Overhead Line Worker.

Typical examples of the duties of an OH HS Troubleshooter include but are not limited to:

-Operates primary and secondary fault locating equipment and locates failures, principally on overhead and URD systems, and occasionally on the underground system when necessary.

-Operates switching devices on overhead systems, pad-mount equipment, and occasionally in manholes and vaults when necessary

-Clears faulty and unsafe conditions including maintaining or restoring electrical service

-Connects, disconnects and operates portable transformers, generators and temporary primary jumpers to restore service under emergency or urgent conditions

-Replaces failed single phase transformers<= 50kVA with assistance of another qualified individual

-Performs short duration maintenance tasks such as battery replacement, control cable replacement, and other similar activities

-As a single crew replaces damaged or faulty services during the initial response or as follow up corrective maintenance after a temporary repair has been made

-Re-installs single phase primary phases as a single troubleshooter or three phase primary as a multi-person crew with the exception of spacer cable messenger work

-Installs & repairs rubber protective equipment

-Operates and adjusts overhead and pad mounted control equipment

-Performs overhead distribution, system, and transmission line patrols and inspections, including transmission right of way patrols

-Performs overhead and pad-mount equipment inspections

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid CDL Class B Driver’s License to Operate Commercial Motor Vehicles

2. Must have mechanical aptitude, a thorough knowledge of the electric transmission & distribution system, be analytical, alert, resourceful, and a work history that demonstrates safe work habits.

3. Must pass EEI testing (CAST test) and successful completion of a technical and behavioral interview including knowledge based exam and physical prescreen.

4. Ability to perform moderately heavy physical work outdoors in all seasons and at times for extended periods.

5.Candidates must have at least 3 years of Journeyman Overhead Lineman experience working on energized and de-energized lines and must have a thorough understanding of operating and construction standards.
